Internet Travel Survey

Transportation is a vital aspect of people lives and poorly designed infrastructure can adversely affect a community.  To provide better knowledge to support investment decisions, this Internet Travel Survey have been developed through a partnership between the University of Alabama in Huntsville, the University Transportation Center of Alabama, and the Alabama Department of Transportation.

This survey is intended to obtain information about your daily driving habits in order to build a computer model to predict future traffic congestion.  The computer model can predict traffic conditions, such as volumes and congestion of roads, based on actual driver input.  In order to obtain usable data you will be asked to provide detailed information about your daily trips.

A trip is considered to be a one-way movement from a point of origin to a point of destination.  For example, if you leave your house to go to work, but stop for coffee and drop your kids off at school along the way, this would constitute three trips.  Then, if you leave work for lunch and return, this would be two more trips.  Finally, leaving work, stopping at a store for groceries, then reaching your home, this would be three trips.  Therefore, the daily total would be eight trips.

To improve the results from this survey, we appreciate you following this convention when entering the number of trips.
